Date Posted: Thursday, January 18th, 2024NOTICE Declaration of Snow Emergency Out of an abundance of caution and due to the weather forecast, in accordance with Section 10.08.010 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Townsend, a Declaration of Snow Emergency has been issued in the Town of Townsend as of 7:30 PM, today, Thursday, January 18th, 2024 through Friday, January 19th, 2024. The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 10 PM EST FRIDAY, 1/18/24. The area is forecasted heavy snow with total snow accumulations of 5 to 6 inches. Residents are advised that travel could be very difficult with the hazardous conditions potentially impacting the morning or evening commute. Please be reminded to slow down and use caution while traveling. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. 2024 Municipal Waste Service Guidelines
Date Posted: Tuesday, January 9th, 2024Residents are reminded of the following guidelines for trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. Please take special notice that only trash should be bagged; recycling and yard waste should not be bagged. Trash: Please place containers at the curb the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Trash must be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours prior to scheduled trash pick-up. All trash containers must be removed from the sidewalk area no later than 24 hours after trash pick-up. Trash containers and/or bags should be placed at the edge of the property so as not to block the sidewalk. Pick up times are subject to change.
