Notice of Election
The Town of Townsend will be having its Town Council Election on May 1, 2021. There are three (3) Council seats open, and four (4) candidates have filed to run.
The Candidates for Council are:
All incorporated Town residents are eligible to vote in the Town of Townsend Election if you:
Register to vote online at ivote.de.gov
You must be registered to vote by April 17th, 2021.
Polls are open at the Town Hall, 141 Main Street on Saturday, May 1, 2021, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. You must have proof of residency and photo ID to vote.
Absentee ballots are available upon request by contacting Town Hall at 302-378-8082 or townhall@townsend.delaware.gov. Or, please complete and return and Absentee Ballot Application- Town of Townsend, which can be found here and return to Town Hall via email at townhall@townsend.delaware.gov, mail, or to the Town’s drop-box.

2021 TOWN OF TOWNSEND BOARD OF ELECTIONS

The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware State Police will conduct a quarterly test of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations Alert and Notification system on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The sirens will sound at around 7:20 p.m.
The 37 sirens located within ten miles of the Salem/Hope Creek (New Jersey) plants will be activated for three to five minutes. The siren tests will be followed by a test message of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on local radio stations.
Sirens that will be tested are the same sirens used to alert the public in the event of an actual emergency at either the Salem or Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. In such an emergency, the public would be alerted by the sirens to tune their radios to one of the local EAS stations for important emergency instructions.

We have been notified that residents have received an email regarding a Town Council Meeting on March 23rd and that this email directs residents to a Town of Millville. This email was sent out in error and we are working with the state to determine how this error occurred. Please note that our next Town Council Workshop meeting is at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021.
