NOTICE OF BID OPENING FOR ROAD REPAVING

 

In accordance with the Town’s Purchasing Policy, notice is hereby given that the Town of Townsend will be opening a bid for road repaving for the Town of Townsend.

Bid Opening Date: June 5th, 2026

Submission Deadline: June 30th, 2026

Location of Submission: 141 Main Street, PO Box 223 Townsend, DE 19734

The Town of Townsend is soliciting proposals from qualified and licensed companies that will be responsible for providing all labor, equipment, materials, and related services necessary to complete the roadway repaving improvements in accordance with the specifications outlined in the RFP documents. All bids must be received by the submission deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.

Interested parties may obtain the full Request for Proposals (RFP) by viewing the Town’s Website.

All bids are required to be sealed and identified on the outside refencing the bid as they will be kept sealed until the close of the bidding timeframe. Bids will be opened and read publicly on the July 2026 PWLUD Committee Meeting. (Date and time to follow)

The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding process.

A Bidder’s Meeting has been scheduled for Friday, June 12th, 2026 from 12pm to 1pm at Townsend Town Hall for all who are interested in attending to receive clarifications or additional information.

Effective Immediately: Town of Townsend Fee Schedule Update

The Town of Townsend has officially adopted an updated Fee Schedule. The revised schedule is now live, and all new rates are effective immediately.

Fees across the schedule have been adjusted, with most costs increasing slightly by a few dollars. These updates help ensure fees remain aligned with current operational and service delivery costs.

Official Notice: 2026 Municipal Election Canceled

The Town of Townsend Election originally scheduled for May 2, 2026 has been canceled.
This cancellation occurred because two (2) candidates filed for the two (2) available council seats for the two-year term. As a result, no election is required under town procedures.

Notice of Solicitation of Planning Commission members

 

The Town of Townsend is currently seeking applicants to fill TWO (2) open seats on the Planning Commission. This position is appointed by the Town Council and carries a three‑year term.

The Planning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the future development of Townsend. Members are responsible for reviewing zoning ordinances, updating zoning maps, advising the Town Council and Board of Adjustment on zoning amendments, and contributing to the development and maintenance of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.

About the Planning Commission

  • Consists of five members, including one member from the Board of Adjustment.

The Town of Townsend will hold its Annual Town Council Election on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Two Council seats will be open for election.
-Applications will be open beginning February 27, 2026.
-Petitions of Candidacy must be submitted to Town Hall no later than 4:30 p.m. on March 26, 2026.
