NOTICE

Declaration of Snow Emergency

Due to weather forecast and in accordance with Section 10.08.010 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Townsend, a Declaration of Emergency has been issued in the Town of Townsend at 11:30 AM, today, Friday, January 28, 2022. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 7 PM today, Friday, January 28, 2022, through 3 PM, tomorrow, Saturday, January 29th, 2022.  The area is forecasted for snow accumulations of 4-6 inches, from Friday night into Saturday afternoon, with the possibility of 4-12 inches.  Residents are advised of heavy snow, high winds, and low temperatures, which can cause hazardous travel conditions. 

Residents with even numbered addresses are directed to remove all motor vehicles that are parked on the side of any road within the corporate limits of Townsend. Parking of all vehicles on the even numbered addresses side of the street is hereby prohibited and will remain prohibited during the continuance of the snow emergency. Parking on the side of Townsend maintained streets bearing odd-numbered addresses is permitted.

The Town snowplow contractor has been placed on standby to begin plowing after snow accumulations reach 2 inches.
