TEMPORARY SEASONAL MUNICIPAL WORKER
The Town of Townsend is seeking applicants for the position of a seasonal temporary Municipal Worker.
This position would work approximately 10 hours per week from May 2017 thru October 2017. Work schedule TBD based on needs of the business. Hours are not guaranteed.
Position involves a variety of physical tasks and assignments in the Municipal Park, Town Hall, and throughout the Town.
Requirements:
- Must have valid driver’s license; be at least 18 years old; lift 55 lbs. without assistance.
- Must be able to work under conditions exposed to heat, rain, sun, humidity, pollen, and other environmental allergens.
- Selected applicants must pass a background check and drug screen prior to their start date.
- Must be able to operate a variety of maintenance equipment
Examples of work may include:
Performs general custodial and cleaning duties
Performs routine, entry-level maintenance work
Picks up trash and empties cans in park
Operates a weed-eater and trimmer
Assists with recreational activities
Basic landscaping, including mowing &trimming

Townsend College Scholars Award
2017- 2018 Townsend Delaware College Scholars Awards Program
Scholarship Guidelines:
* Seeking high school graduates and rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Town of Townsend with a record of leadership and volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities.
* Applicant must complete high school, freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college in the spring of 2017
* Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
*Applicants must apply to, be accepted into or attending an accredited 2 year College or 4-year University by July 1, 2017
* Applicant must be a United States Citizen
* Applicant must intend on pursuing a degree
* Scholarship funds will be paid in August or September 2017 for the Fall semester directly to the college and not to the student. It will be the student’s responsibility to submit to the Town Manager proof of enrollment for the Fall 2017 semester that will include student ID number and college information
* Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school teacher, counselor, principal, or college professor and one from a local community member or officer of an organization in which the applicant is affiliated
* Applications must be postmarked by April 30th, 2017
* Late applications are not accepted
