Election Day- November 3rd, 2020
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. To locate your polling place, visit the following website: https://ivote.de.gov/VoterView and enter your address OR call the Department of Elections at 302-577-3464.
Please remember, Townsend Town Hall is not a polling place for the 2020 General Election.
Please Remember the Guidance for Halloween 2020: Halloween is Here. Be Safe and Stay Healthy!
The Town of Townsend wants everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween. Halloween is celebrated on Saturday, October 31st. Per Town Council, for the safety of all, trick or treating will be held between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm for all those wishing to participate. All trick-or-treaters in costume should be off of the streets by 9 p.m.
This year, trick-or-treating will be held based on each individual resident’s/family’s preference.
If you would like to give out candy to trick-or-treaters, turn on your porch light. Those wishing not to participate, turn off your porch light.
Please treat your neighbors with respect and remember safety rules by following these general Halloween guidelines:
- Only visit houses whose porch/front lights are on.
- Wear reflectors, reflective clothing and carry a flashlight for safety.
- Wear cotton masks, maintain social distancing and wash hands frequently.
- Provide treats without direct contact; interact with treaters from at least 6 feet away .
- If driving, please drive slower and be attentive to increased foot traffic.
- Be respectful of Halloween displays and yards.
In light of Covid-19 please make the best judgement for you and your family while participating safely in this year’s activities. Please refer to the guidance from the State of Delaware.

Please enter the Townsend Town Hall Parking lot from the Main Street Entrance. Please remain in your vehicle with your masks on and allow a representative from GFL to help you choose your pumpkin and share some treats.

Reminder- All Residents That Have Not Made Arrangements for Payment, the Deadline for Townsend Tax Bills is October 31st
Those with outstanding balances affective November 1st, will be charged 1.5% interest per month.

Townsend Playground Equipment Remains Closed & Park Pavilion Rentals Canceled Through the End of the Year
With an abundance of caution for our residents and visitors, Town Council has decided, at the 10/7/2020 Town Council meeting, that the Townsend playground equipment, basketball court, and skate park, and will remain closed through the end of the year.
In addition, Town Council has suspended Park Pavilion Rentals through the end of the year to aid in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus.
