Please Remember the Guidance for Halloween 2020: Halloween is Here. Be Safe and Stay Healthy!

Date Posted: Friday, October 30th, 2020

The Town of Townsend wants everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween.  Halloween is celebrated on Saturday, October 31st.  Per Town Council, for the safety of all, trick or treating will be held between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm for all those wishing to participate.  All trick-or-treaters in costume should be off of the streets by 9 p.m.

This year, trick-or-treating will be held based on each individual resident’s/family’s preference.

If you would like to give out candy to trick-or-treaters, turn on your porch light. Those wishing not to participate, turn off your porch light.

Please treat your neighbors with respect and remember safety rules by following these general Halloween guidelines:

  • Only visit houses whose porch/front lights are on.
  • Wear reflectors, reflective clothing and carry a flashlight for safety.
  • Wear cotton masks, maintain social distancing and wash hands frequently.
  • Provide treats without direct contact; interact with treaters from at least 6 feet away .
  • If driving, please drive slower and be attentive to increased foot traffic.
  • Be respectful of Halloween displays and yards.

In light of Covid-19 please make the best judgement for you and your family while participating safely in this year’s activities. Please refer to the guidance from the State of Delaware.
