Townsend Christmas Tree Disposal- Monday, January 11, 2021

Please remember these guidelines when leaving out your trees:

  • Please remove all lights and decorations
  • Cut down any trees over 6 feet tall
  • Tree bags are not allowed
  • Place the trees at the curb the night before.

Town Hall Closed in Recognition of the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Holidays

In recognition of the Christmas Holidays, Townhall will be closed on Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, 2020 and on Christmas Day, Friday December 25, 2020.
 

Reminder: Town of Townsend Annual Holiday Decoration Contest

Please remember that Town Officials will be driving around Town tonight, 12/21/20 and tomorrow night, 12/22/20 to look at the holiday decorations and lights for the Town of Townsend Annual Holiday Decoration Contest. Please ensure your decorative lights are on and your decorations are up. Best of Luck to all!

The Town of Townsend is happy to announce that we will be holding Annual Holiday Decoration Contest.  This year, it is not necessary to register your home.  Instead, representatives from Town Council will drive thru the Town to explore the wonderful decorations and designate a winner.  Each year, Town Council hosts the Holiday Decoration Contest to celebrate the holidays.  While many of our traditional holiday activities are limited due to the Pandemic and the continuing State of Emergency, Town Council is glad to continue this tradition and promote our community’s holiday spirit.  Judging will take place on or about December 21, 2020, weather permitting. The contest winners will be announced at the Town Meeting in January.  All decisions of the judges are final.

Residents have the option to enter their house or nominate a neighbor’s home, please email Townhall@townsend.de.gov.  Please include your name, address, telephone and email.

Townsend Neighborhood Social and Services Group COVID-19 Impact Form

As the Town of Townsend recognizes that this has been a very challenging time for many residents, the Town of Townsend is working with a newly established citizen group- The Neighborhood Social and Services Group.  This is a new community driven effort to assist those in our community with needs for daily living.  Currently, we are working to gather a list of residents who may be facing serious challenges during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Information will be shared with one member of The Neighborhood Social and Services Group who will contact you to determine what assistance can be provided.  Personal information will be kept confidential.

Reminder from GFL Regarding Trash & Recycling Guidelines

Please see below for guidelines and reminders regarding trash and recycling services in the Town of Townsend, from GFL.  

TRASH & RECYCLING GUIDELINES

  • Please place containers at the curb the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.
  • Pick up times are subject to change. Trash placed at the curb AFTER 7 am will not be picked up if the driver has already been through. Special arrangements may be made for an extra pickup. (Additional charges may apply) 
  • Please place the carts out to the curb with the wheels and handles facing the house and the lift bar facing the road. The carts should be clear of any obstructions such as mailboxes, cars, utility poles, garage doors, etc. The truck and driver must have clear access to the rollout carts.
  • For a regular scheduled service your pick up includes (1) 95 – Gallon cart. Please call in to schedule an additional pickup for extra trash or bulk items. (Additional charges may apply)
  • Please bag all trash.
  • Recycling: Please break down or cut any large cardboard boxes and place all recyclable loose on the provided cart. No bags please

HOLIDAYS

  • If your pick up day falls on or after one of the following holidays your trash/recycle will be picked up one day after your normal day of service. If one of the holidays falls on a weekend your schedule will not be affected.  All other holidays are run as normal.

      • Office Closed-Good Friday (Routes will be running as normal)
      • Closed-Memorial Day
      • Closed-July 4th
      • Closed-Labor Day
      • Closed-Thanksgiving Day
