NOTICE OF SOLICITATION OF CANDIDATES
The annual Town Council election is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th, 2022, the 1st Saturday in May, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
There are Three (3) Council positions open for election.
Two (2) Council positions are open for a two-year term, until 2024.
One (1) Council position is open for a one-year term, until 2023.
If you are interested in serving as a Member of Town Council,
Petitions of Candidacy may be requested by calling Town Hall at 302-378-8082 or by emailing
townhall@townsend.delaware.gov
Applications are available beginning Monday, March 7th, 2022
*PETITIONS OF CANDIDACY APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED AT TOWN HALL BY 4:30 PM on Thursday, April 7th, 2022.
QUALIFICATIONS for CANDIDACY
- Be 18 years of age
- Be a Citizen of the United States of America
- Be a registered voter in the State of Delaware, New Castle County
- Be a legal resident within the Town Corporate Boundaries for a minimum of twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the filing of Candidacy.

The Town of Townsend Police Chief Swearing in Ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at VFW Post 3792, located at 5695 Summit Bridge Rd., Townsend, DE 19734. We hope you can join us for this special event.
Town Hall Closed in Recognition of Presidents’ Day
In recognition of the Presidents’ Day Holiday, Townhall will be closed on Monday, February 21st, 2022.
Snow Emergency Declared for February 12th- 13th, 2022 Has Now Ended
The Snow Emergency that was declared for February 12th- 13th, 2022 has now ended as of 7:30 pm on Sunday, February 13th, 2022. Thank you to all for the cooperation with removing motor vehicles parked on the even numbered addressed side of the roads within the corporate limits of Townsend.

NOTICE
Declaration of Snow Emergency
Due to weather forecast and in accordance with Section 10.08.010 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Townsend, a Declaration of Emergency has been issued in the Town of Townsend as of 8:00 PM, today, Saturday, February 12th, 2022 through Sunday, February 13th, 2022.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 AM, Sunday, February 13th, 2022, through 4 PM, Sunday, February 13th, 2022. The area is forecasted for light snow accumulations of 1-3 inches. Residents are also advised of low temperatures from Sunday through Tuesday.
Residents with even numbered addresses are directed to remove all motor vehicles that are parked on the side of any road within the corporate limits of Townsend. Parking of all vehicles on the even numbered addresses side of the street is hereby prohibited and will remain prohibited during the continuance of the snow emergency. Parking on the side of Townsend maintained streets bearing odd-numbered addresses is permitted.
The Town snowplow contractor has been placed on standby to begin plowing after snow accumulations reach 2 inches.
