EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

The Townsend Delaware Police Department is currently accepting applications from active State of Delaware COPT certified officers. 

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established police department and serve as the second in command while working in partnership with the Chief of Police to expand the agency from the ground up.  

Townsend is a growing town with expanding development’s, potential business growth and outdoor recreation areas. The ideal candidate must have at a minimum the following; 

  • 10 years of proven proactive law enforcement leadership experience, with an emphasis in police operations, logistics, information systems 
  • Investigative experience 
  • Federal & State Grant writing experience 
  • Valid Delaware Drivers License 
  • Current DUI Detection & NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Test 
  • Employee mentoring and evaluation experience  

This is not a desk position, the person selected will be required to work various shifts, holidays and perform patrol duties.
