New Castle County Reassessment
From New Castle County Councilman Dave Carter,
As part of a law suit settlement, New Castle County has begun undergoing a property tax reassessment countywide. Residents may have begun to see data collectors making their way through New Castle County to reassess parcels.
New Castle County has engaged Tyler Technologies to conduct the reassessment project.
Beginning on or around July 18, property owners should be on the lookout for data collectors in our community. They will be making their way through Southern New Castle County, visiting every parcel and collecting data. The data collector may also ask the occupants about the property such as the year it was built, the number of bedrooms, or square footage.
Once the data has been collected, a data mailer will be mailed to the property owner with the information that was collected. Please contact the County assessment office (302-395-5520) if there is an error or if something was missed. The most accurate information will ensure the most accurate value for the property.
For more information on this process, please view the FAQ regarding the reassessment, and continue to check the County website for updates.

Emergency Sirens Test on Tuesday, July 5
SMYRNA, Del. — The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware State Police will conduct a quarterly test of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations Alert and Notification system on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. The sirens will sound at around 7:20 p.m.
The 37 sirens located within ten miles of the Salem/Hope Creek (New Jersey) plants will be activated for three to five minutes. The siren tests will be followed by a test message of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on local radio stations.
Sirens that will be tested are the same sirens used to alert the public in the event of an actual emergency at either the Salem or Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. In such an emergency, the public would be alerted by the sirens to tune their radios to one of the local EAS stations for important emergency instructions.
Any residents living within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) may contact DEMA at (302) 659-3362 if they are in need of potassium iodide (KI) tablets. To check whether you live within the EPZ, you can click here bit.ly/epz_delaware
