GET INVOLVED FOR VETERANS DAY: Honoring Local Veterans at the Brian Conley Veteran Resiliency Center

The Town of Townsend is seeking donations in partnership with Warriors Helping Warriors.  We are also collecting letters and pictures to show our support for the Veterans at the Brian Conley Veteran Resiliency Center, in honor of Veterans Day.  Donations, letters and pictures can be dropped off to Townsend Town Hall until November 8th, 2023.

Letters should show your support and appreciation for the ones who served our country.  A letter template that may be used is attached or available for pickup at Townsend Town Hall and the Townsend Post Office. 

 

 

REMINDER: Pumpkin Patch at Townsend Elementary Tomorrow, 10/20/2023, from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Thanks to our Municipal Waste provider, Casella (formerly known as GFL), the Town of Townsend and Townsend Elementary have partnered to create a pumpkin patch at tomorrows trunk-or-treat, Friday 10/20/23 from 6 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  

Children are welcome to pickup a pumpkin from the patch at Townsend Elementary.

DE Veterans Support Association- Holiday Food Drive 10/15/23 – 12/01/23

The Delaware Veterans Support Association is hosting a Holiday Food Drive from October 15th to December 1st, 2023.  There will be a collection bin inside of Townsend Town Hall at 141 Main St., Townsend, DE 19734.  Thank you for your donations.  

DVSA is collecting the following food items: ANY nonperishable items!

Canned Vegetables, Fruits, Bread, Rice, Dry Milk, Raisins, Snacks, Water Bottles, Bottled or Powdered Juices, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Stuffing, Cereals, Dry Milk, Oatmeal, etc!

Personal Hygiene Products will also be accepted.

Halloween is Here. Be Safe and Stay Healthy!

The Town of Townsend wants everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween.  Halloween is celebrated on Tuesday, October 31st.  Per Town Council, for the safety of all, trick or treating will be held between the hours of 6 pm and 8 pm for all those wishing to participate.  All trick-or-treaters in costume should be off of the streets by 9 p.m. 

As always, trick-or-treating will be held based on each individual resident’s/family’s preference.

If you would like to give out candy to trick-or-treaters, turn on your porch light. Those wishing not to participate, please turn off your porch light.

Please treat your neighbors with respect and remember safety rules by following these general Halloween guidelines:

  • Only visit houses whose porch/front lights are on. 
  • Wear reflectors, reflective clothing and carry a flashlight for safety.
  • If driving, please drive slower and be attentive to increased foot traffic. 
  • Be respectful of Halloween displays and yards.

Town of Townsend

The Town of Townsend will utilize electronic bidding to receive sealed bids for the Townsend Municipal Park Irrigation System. Sealed bids must be submitted online through the PennBid electronic procurement program prior to 10/25/2023 at 10:00 AM EST, at which time they will be opened and read aloud at the offices of the Town of Townsend, located at 141 Main Street, DE, 19734.

All documents and solicitation details are available at no cost through PennBid (www.PennBid.net).

Bidders are required to provide Bid Security in an amount equal to 10% of the total amount bid.  Bid Security may be provided in the form of a certified check or a bid bond issued by a Surety Company licensed to transact such business in the state of Delaware.

Upon award of a contract, the Successful Bidder shall provide a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the awarded contract value.  Upon completion of the contract, the Successful Bidder shall provide a 2-year Maintenance Bond in the amount of 100% of the final contract value.

Only the Successful Bidder for a contract will be responsible for payment of a fee to PennBid and for bearing the cost thereof.  The amount of the fee due to PennBid is either 1/3% (0.0033) of the initial contract award amount for fixed fee contracts or 1/6% (0.00166) of the expected contract value for term contracts and will be invoiced by PennBid to the successful bidder upon award of a contract by the Local Contracting Unit.  The minimum fee is set at $100.00 and the maximum fee is capped at $5,000.00.

The Town of Townsend encourages Minority and Women Business Enterprises to participate in competitively bidding this project.

This project is being funded by DNREC, ORPT – Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Trails Program.

There will be a NON-MANDATORY Pre-Bid Meeting held on 10/11/2023 at 10:00 AM EST at the Townsend Municipal Park, 0 Edgar Road, Townsend, DE 19734.
