The Town of Townsend and the Sylvan Learning Center of Middletown will be hosting a practice SAT exam for Townsend Students in the Classes of 2024 and 2025 on Wednesday, February 17th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be held at the Town Hall located at 141 Main St., Townsend, DE 19734. Please arrive at Town Hall between 7:45 a.m. to 7:55 p.m.. Bring number 2 pencils and an approved calculator.
Registration is required as space is limited. To register please contact Town Hall via email at townhall@townsend.delware.gov or call 302-378-8082. Upon registering please provide the following: student’s name, graduation year, parent name and address, and email addresses for both student and parent. Sylvan will offer a free review of the exam results with the family after scores are received.

REMINDER: DelDOT Notice of Public Open House: Townsend Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan & Survey
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) along with its consultants, invites the public to attend a public workshop regarding the Townsend Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan. The public is invited to:
- Review and provide comments on DelDOT’s analysis of current bicycle and pedestrian facilities within the project area; and
- Share their ideas and preferences for locations and priorities of bicycle and pedestrian improvements within Townsend town limits.
This workshop will also provide an update on the overall study and schedule.
The workshop will be held at Town Hall of Townsend on January 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Interested persons are invited to express their views and suggestions in writing. Comments will be received during the workshop. They can also be sent to DelDOT Community Relations.

Emergency Sirens Test on Tuesday, January 3rd
SMYRNA, Del. — The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware State Police will conduct a quarterly test of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations Alert and Notification system on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. The sirens will sound at approximately 10:45 a.m.
The 37 sirens located within ten miles of the Salem/Hope Creek (New Jersey) plants will be activated for three to five minutes. The siren tests will be followed by a test message of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on local radio stations.
The sirens tested are the same ones used to alert the public in the event of an actual emergency at either the Salem or Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. If such an emergency were to occur, the public would be alerted by the sirens to tune their radios to one of the local EAS stations for important emergency instructions.

Santa and his elves will be back Monday, January 9th, 2023 to collect the holiday trees!
Tree collection is not an easy job but you can help:
- Please remove all lights and decorations.
- Cut down any trees over 6 feet tall.
- Tree bags are not allowed in the sleigh.
- Place the trees at the curb the night before
