Date Posted: Monday, January 15th, 2024NOTICE Declaration of Snow Emergency Out of an abundance of caution and due to the weather forecast, in accordance with Section 10.08.010 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Townsend, a Declaration of Snow Emergency has been issued in the Town of Townsend as of 6:30 PM, today, Monday, January 15th, 2024 through Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 1pm, Tuesday, January 16th. The area is forecasted for mixed precipitation with snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. The heaviest snow is predicted for Monday evening. Snow is expected to become a wintry mix after midnight and may briefly change to plain rain Tuesday morning before tapering off Residents are advised of potentially slippery road conditions. We are not expecting as severe or widespread flooding as we saw Tuesday Night. A Flood Watch has been issued for the entire county. 2024 Municipal Waste Service Guidelines
Date Posted: Tuesday, January 9th, 2024Residents are reminded of the following guidelines for trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. Please take special notice that only trash should be bagged; recycling and yard waste should not be bagged. Trash: Please place containers at the curb the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Trash must be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours prior to scheduled trash pick-up. All trash containers must be removed from the sidewalk area no later than 24 hours after trash pick-up. Trash containers and/or bags should be placed at the edge of the property so as not to block the sidewalk. Pick up times are subject to change.
