Delaware Weatherization Assistance Program

Weatherization Assistance is a free program that decreases energy costs for low-income families by making the home more energy efficient, while improving their comfort, health, and safety.              The U. S. Department of Energy and State sources provide grant funds to administer the program.

The program is statewide ans operates throughout the year.  Catholic Charities, Inc. is the program administrator, working under contract to the State Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Division of Energy and Climate.  Services typically include wall, attic, & foundation insulation, air leakage reduction, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, dryer venting, and attic ventilation..

Eligibility Income Guidelines for the free services range from $24,120 for a household of 1 to $82,640 for a household of 8.  For families with more than 8 persons, add $8,360 for each additional person.

Our Daily Bread Provides Meals to Those in Need.

Our Daily Bread, our local Food Bank, is a welcoming facility located at 214 North Broad St., Middletown.  Their MISSION is to feed low income families, individuals, children, the elderly and all those in need in the Middletown, Odessa & Townsend communities with nutritious meals in a safe environment

Volunteers serve lunch every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the month and dinner every Tuesday and Thursday of the month

Church Groups, Restaurants, Civic Groups and Other concerned citizens and neighbors prepare and serve meals.​  Their goal is to fill the calendar with meals as the support from the community allows, as they rely solely on donations of both food and time.

The VISION of our Daily Bread is to create healthy, flourishing, positive eating experience for every individual by serving nutritional meals in a safe environment.

The Town of Townsend is accepting applications for the position of a permanent part time Administrative Assistant (20 -30 hours/week) to perform general office duties.

Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office, possess excellent organization, communication and customer service skills, be able to multi-task, and have knowledge of general accounting principles.

On December 18th SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWNsend…courtesy of the Townsend Fire Company

“Happy Holidays residents.  The Townsend Fire Company will be escorting Santa Claus throughout Townsend spreading good cheer on Monday, December 18^th starting at 6:00 pm.  Santa will start his route in Townsend Village and continue into the Heart of Town; Santa will then go through Townsend Village II East to Townsend Village II West, back into the Heart of Town and finish in Townsend Station.  If you have any questions, please call the fire company at 302-378-8111.  Come on out and spread Christmas cheer when you see Santa on his way!  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Mayor Sutton and Town Council.  Stay Safe.”

Christmas Tree Pick-up

Waste Industries has scheduled Townsend’s Christmas Tree Pick-up for Monday, January 8, 2018.  Please leave clean trees with no bags curbside.

On Saturday – January 6^th  from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – trees can be left @ the park & ride at Rt. 13 and Pine Tree Corner Road – free of charge – Sponsored by our local Representatives.
