THANK YOU STATE LEGISLATORS & CASELLA: Townsend Clean-Out Day 06/26/2024
Great things get accomplished when the community comes together. The Town of Townsend sends a big thank you to Senator Kyra Hoffner and State Representatives Kevin Hensley and Jeff Spielman for supporting our event! We also want to send another thanks to our municipal waste provider Casella for sponsoring the dumpsters!
HELPFUL TIPS:
- Please place carts at the curb the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day.
- Please place the carts out to the curb with the wheels and handles facing the house and the lift bar facing the road. The carts should be clear of any obstructions such as mailboxes, cars, utility poles, garage doors, etc. The truck and driver must have clear access to the rollout carts. Please do not block the sidewalk.
- Please bag all trash. This does not include recycling and yard waste.
- Please break down or cut any large cardboard boxes and place all recyclable loose on the provided cart.
- If you have to much cardboard to recycle, check out the local Pine Tree Corner Transfer Station located at 276 Pine Tree Road, Townsend, DE 19734. The recycling area is open to the public FREE OF CHARGE from Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Please do not recycle bags or use them to hold recycling materials.
- Please make sure your yard waste is placed loose inside the provided container. Please do not use a bag to hold yard waste material.
- You may have a maximum of 3 small bundles of twigs, branches, etc. that may be easily manageable by one person to the side of the container. Please make sure to use sturdy twine to hold the bundle together.
- Please do not place sand, dirt, sod, mulch, rock, large thick tree trunks, or branches no thicker than 3” in diameter and no longer than 4’ in length into the cart. These items may be dropped off in small quantities to the local Pine Tree Corner Transfer Station; $85 per ton.
- For more details on our normal pick-up times and scheduling provided by Casella, please see our Municipal Waste Service Guidelines by clicking the following link: https://townsend.delaware.gov/2024/01/09/2024-municipal-waste-service-guidelines/
Stay tuned Townsend, we hope to hold more events like this and others within the Town!
