From our partners at the Delaware Emergency Management Agency

A TORNADO WATCH is in effect for all of Delaware until 2pm.
Scattered downpours from the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby are already moving through the region and will continue into the evening.
Multiple flood warnings have been issued as parts of NCC have received between 1-4” of rain over the last 24 hours, these will be issued as needed by the NWS.
Continue to monitor changing conditions.
The heavy rain from Debby is supposed to stay West of Delaware, however we can still see isolated areas of heavy rain through tonight.

WEATHER ADVISORY: 8/7/2024 @ 12:24PM T.S. DEBBY UPDATE 1.

This information is provided by our partners at Delaware Emergency Management Agency.
There is still uncertainty about the path and impacts of TS Debby. Heavy rain is expected today through Friday.
Winds will increase on Friday, but are not expected to exceed 30 mph.
Debby will move inland tonight or Thursday. The magnitude of our local impacts Friday and Friday night are highly
dependent on the exact forecast track, which remains somewhat uncertain at this point.
There is a potential of Severe Isolated Thunderstorms Friday with a primary concern being tornadoes.
The risk of flash flooding remains elevated in Northern Delaware through Friday night. River flooding may be possible through the weekend.
Townsend PD will continue to post updates as issued by DEMA or the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). We encourage our citizens to monitor their local news and radio for the quickest notifications.
As always we ask that you bring your pets inside for the duration of this event.
We thank you for your continued support.

ANNOUNCING: Town Manager Appointment

The Town of Townsend is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Goodyear as our new Town Manager.  Please see the below letter from Mrs. Goodyear:

July 11, 2024 Dear Residents and Community Members, I am honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new Town Manager of Townsend. With a deep commitment to public service and a passion for community development, I bring 10+ years of experience in Property and HOA management and a steadfast dedication to fostering a thriving and inclusive Townsend. My journey in management began in rental properties from running apartment complexes and commercial sub-divisions. As the years progressed, a shift to HOA management occurred giving me my first experience with Governing Boards, Charters and Codes of Authority etc. Throughout my career, I have championed initiatives aimed at enhancing civic engagement and improving infrastructure all while ensuring fiscal responsibility. I believe in transparent governance and collaborative decision-making to address the needs and aspirations of our diverse community. Townsend holds a special place in my heart, as a Resident of the MOT area for many years, and I am eager to work alongside all of you to build upon the town's rich history and promising future. Together, we will tackle challenges, seize opportunities, and uphold Townsend's values of integrity, innovation, and compassion. I am committed to open communication and accessibility, and I encourage you to reach out with your ideas, concerns, and aspirations for the town. Let's embark on this journey together as we continue to shape Townsend into an even better place to live, work, and thrive. I look forward to meeting each of you and working collaboratively to ensure Townsend remains a community we are all proud to call home. Warm regards, Julie Goodyear Town Manager, Town of Townsend email - jgoodyear@townsend.delaware.gov
