WEATHER ADVISORY: Potential Winter Storm this Weekend
Date Posted: Thursday, January 4th, 2024A potential winter storm is moving our way this weekend. Please stay up to date on the developing storm and note the following: Key Points: Precipitation moves in around Midday Saturday and may start as a brief period of snow and/or sleet, especially north of the canal, we don’t expect any accumulation except possibly on the grass and colder areas in the far northwestern part of the county. Heaviest of the rain moves in late Saturday afternoon and into the evening before tapering overnight. We are expecting 0.5″-1″ of rain, The latest 3 and 6-hour flash flood guidance is solidly within the 2-3″ range, so the threat for flooding remains marginal at best. That said, cannot rule out some minor flooding of low-lying or poor drainage areas. Emergency Sirens Test on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 @ 10:45 a.m.
Date Posted: Wednesday, December 27th, 2023SMYRNA, Del. — The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware State Police, along with Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PSEG), will conduct a quarterly test of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations Alert and Notification system on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10:45 a.m. There are 37 sirens in Delaware located within a 10-mile radius of the Salem-Hope Creek Generating Stations in New Jersey. The sirens cover an area north from Delaware City, west to Middletown, and south to Woodland Beach. This test is part of an ongoing program that continually monitors the integrity of the siren system. Sirens will be activated for three to five minutes, followed by a test message of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on local radio stations.
