NOTICE TO RESIDENTS The purpose of this notice is to advise you that STANDARD PIPE SERVICES was contracted by the Town of Townsend to perform repairs on various sinkholes in the area of your property. The rehabilitation work is scheduled to be performed on: 08/21/2023 through 08/25/2023.  Access to your home is not required and it’s not required for anyone to be home during the work. TRAFFIC ALERT – New Castle County – Blackbird Landing Road to Close at the Bridge Over Blackbird Creek for 75 Days Starting Monday, August 21st

Townsend — The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that Blackbird Landing Road will close at the bridge over Blackbird Creek for 75 days, beginning on Monday, August 21st. Detours will be posted. The road is scheduled to reopen toward the end of October. Motorists should use caution and expect minor delays in the area. Severe Weather Alert for Monday, 8/7/2023

There is a risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening producing damaging winds, with a couple tornadoes possible, and heavy downpours leading to some localized urban and small stream flooding.   Locations affected: The entire region is at risk for severe thunderstorms and localized flooding. The highest risk for damaging winds and any tornadoes is generally along and west of a Trenton to Philadelphia to Georgetown line. The highest risk for flooding is along the urban corridor. Refer to the attached graphics.   Timing: This afternoon through this evening. The greatest risk is between 4 PM to 10 PM.   Impacts: Severe thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts bringing down trees and power lines resulting in power outages.
