Townsend Veterans Recognition Day

On Saturday, April 18th, 2009, the Town of Townsend held a Veterans Recognition Ceremony to recognize the sacrifices Veterans have made and continue to make to serve our great Country and keep us free.  The Town of Townsend feels Veterans should be honored and thanked for their service at any given time or place, but has declared via Resolution No. 09-02,  on April 18th of each year Townsend Veterans Recognition Day.  Please join the Town of Townsend in recognizing all Military Veterans, retired, active, and honorably discharged who reside in the 19734-zip code.  We are seeking residents’ participation to add even more pictures into our photo book that has been started to honor the Veterans residing in our Town.  If you or someone you know has served in the United States Military, please submit their or your photograph along with a brief description to Townhall.  Be sure to include term […]

Emergency Sirens Test on Tuesday, April 4th

SMYRNA, Del. — The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware State Police, along with Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PSEG), will conduct a quarterly test of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations Alert and Notification system on Tuesday, April 4, at 7:20 p.m. There are 37 sirens in Delaware located within a 10-mile radius of the Salem-Hope Creek Generating Stations in New Jersey. The sirens cover an area north from Delaware City, west to Middletown, and south to Woodland Beach. This test is part of an ongoing program that continually monitors the integrity of the siren system. Sirens will be activated for three to five minutes, followed by a test message of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on local radio stations. Sirens tested are the same ones used to alert the public in the event of an actual emergency at either the Salem or Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. In the event of […]
