Winter Weather Tips

As we move into the winter season the Town of Townsend would like to share the following information and tips to ensure a safe winter season.  In accordance with Townsend Municipal Code Section 10.04.020 Snow And Ice On Sidewalks” “It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant of any premises in the town immediately in front of, beside or behind a sidewalk to permit or allow snow or ice to remain thereon for longer than 12 hours after daylight after it shall have ceased snowing. Reminder to Pickup After Dogs Within Town

This is a friendly reminder to all residents regarding dog waste.  Per the Town of Townsend Municipal Code:   14.16.030 Waste It shall be unlawful for any person having possession, custody or control of any dog to permit such animal to damage, defile, or defecate upon any private property within the town limits not owned or leased by such person, or any public property within the town, including, but not limited to, streets, alleys, curbs, sidewalks, or parks. If the excrement is removed immediately and disposed of in a sanitary manner by the owner or person in charge of the dog, it will not be considered a violation of this section. The provisions of this section shall not apply to a guide dog accompanying any blind person or to a dog assisting any other physically challenged person. 2022 Holiday Lights Contest (2) Deck the Trees, Shrubs, and Roofline! Town Council will be judging homes on or about December 15th and 16th. Winners will be announced at the January 4th, 2022 Town Council meeting. Judges decisions are final.   No registration is Necessary! Just show us your lights! So let’s see Santa, light the Menorah, and drink from the Unity Cup!   There will be 2 categories for the contest: 1. Modern– Utilizing Light Movement & Blowups 2. Townsend Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan Public Notice The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) along with its consultants, invites the public to attend a public workshop regarding the Townsend Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan. The public is invited to: Review and provide comments on DelDOT’s analysis of current bicycle and pedestrian facilities within the project area; and Share their ideas and preferences for locations and priorities of bicycle and pedestrian improvements within Townsend town limits.
