TRAFFIC ALERT – New Castle County – Blackbird Landing Road to Close at the Bridge Over Blackbird Creek for 75 Days Starting Monday, August 21st
Date Posted: Friday, August 11th, 2023Townsend — The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that Blackbird Landing Road will close at the bridge over Blackbird Creek for 75 days, beginning on Monday, August 21st. Detours will be posted. The road is scheduled to reopen toward the end of October. Motorists should use caution and expect minor delays in the area. Severe Weather Alert for Monday, 8/7/2023
Date Posted: Monday, August 7th, 2023There is a risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening producing damaging winds, with a couple tornadoes possible, and heavy downpours leading to some localized urban and small stream flooding. Locations affected: The entire region is at risk for severe thunderstorms and localized flooding. The highest risk for damaging winds and any tornadoes is generally along and west of a Trenton to Philadelphia to Georgetown line. The highest risk for flooding is along the urban corridor. Refer to the attached graphics. Timing: This afternoon through this evening. The greatest risk is between 4 PM to 10 PM. Impacts: Severe thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts bringing down trees and power lines resulting in power outages. REMINDER: 2023 Municipal Waste Service Guidelines
Date Posted: Tuesday, July 25th, 2023Residents are reminded of the following guidelines for trash, recycling, and yard waste collection. Please take special notice that only trash should be bagged; recycling and yard waste should not be bagged. Trash: Please place containers at the curb the night before or no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Trash must be placed at the curb no earlier than 24 hours prior to scheduled trash pick-up. All trash containers must be removed from the sidewalk area no later than 24 hours after trash pick-up. Trash containers and/or bags should be placed at the edge of the property so as not to block the sidewalk. Pick up times are subject to change. If trash is not picked up as a result of not having it out by the arrival time of the driver; there may be a $25 fee to pick up before your next scheduled pick […]

Date Posted: Wednesday, July 19th, 20232023 Town of Townsend Town Council Committee Assignments As per the posting on Friday, June 9, 2023, the following newly elected Townsend Town Council members Joseph Bangura, Matthew Chapman, Joshua Mertz, and Marcus Suhr; were sworn in on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. At the same meeting, the Town Council elected Scott Lobdell to serve as the Mayor, for a one-year term. Per the announcement at the meeting, the committee assignments were to be announced at the next regular Town Council meeting.
