COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT- Message from DNREC- Mosquito Spraying
Date Posted: Friday, April 4th, 2025A message from DNREC-MOSQUITO CONTROL Weather permitting; the Delaware Mosquito Control Section plans the following insecticide application in forested wetland habitats. This application may take place during daylight hours from Friday, April 3rd through Sunday, April 6, 2025 via helicopter (registration #N2268W). Application of Vectobac 12AS (liquid Bti) to control mosquito larvae in the following areas: Near Newark; and in/around Middletown and Townsend. For notification purposes, spraying will be done in the following zones: 36, 37, 40, 41, 47, 53, 54, 55, 59, 60, and 61. All insecticides to be used are registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for mosquito control and will be applied according to EPA-approved label instructions. The EPA has determined that the insecticides to be used do not pose unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife, or the environment. Date Posted: Friday, March 21st, 2025NEWS FROM DEMA: POTASSIUM IODIDE DISTRIBUTION ON APRIL 3 IN MIDDLETOWN• For those who live or work within 10 miles of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Stations• To check whether you are within the Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ), visit de.gov/epzSMYRNA, Del. — The Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) and Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) will distribute free potassium iodide (KI) tablets to Delaware residents living within a 10-mile radius (also known as the Emergency Planning Zone or EPZ) of the Salem/Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations. The free tablets will be distributed on Thursday, April 3, 2025, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Middletown Fire Company, 27 West Green Street, Middletown, 19709.
