Anticipation in Hiring of a Flexible, Part-time Code Enforcement Officer/ Building Inspector
Date Posted: Tuesday, September 29th, 2020The Town of Townsend is anticipating hiring a flexible part-time Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector to work approximately 15 to 20 hrs. weekly. Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector will be responsible for conducting investigations and ensuring compliance with all Town Codes and related ordinances. The employee may issue citations and bring violators in Magistrate Court and may testify if necessary. Employee will work under general supervision of the Town Manager. The Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector will be required to maintain confidentiality and prepare reports and keep appropriate records. Qualified applicants must have excellent communication skills, proficiency with computers, and a valid driver’s license with good driving record. Unanticipated Disruption in Trash Services
Date Posted: Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020Late yesterday afternoon Townhall was notified that there were difficulties in collection of garbage and recyclables in a portion of Town. All garbage and recyclables should be collected by the end of today. The Town Manager has been in touch with GFL to assure that plans are being put in place to manage any disruption in service. The delay is being caused by the temporary closure of the Pine Tree Solid Waste Transfer Station for improvements. This means that trucks must travel over an hour and a half each way to offload in Felton, DE. GFL is working with the Town to assure that there is a proper contingency plan in place until the Pine Tree Solid Waste Transfer Station reopens.
