Keeping Sidewalks Clear

In the interest of Public Safety, the following ordinance is being re-posted for those that may not be aware.  ORDINANCE # 11 KEEPING SIDEWALKS CLEAR Whereas, the Town Council for the Town of Townsend, Delaware, finds that the health and welfare of its citizens is vitally concerned with keeping sidewalks reasonably clear of debris, ice, snow and other material, which would represent a hazard to pedestrians by tripping, slipping, falling, or other difficulties, and Whereas, the Town finds that it is more reasonable to expect owners and tenants of property to be responsible for keeping the sidewalks in front of there property clear of such debris and problems, Now, Therefore, the Council for the Town of Townsend, Delaware declares the following Ordinance to be binding and effective upon all residents of the said Town. Please note that only the west side of Town received trash pickup services today, Monday, January, 14, 2019 (All of recycling is picked up) The rest of Townsend will receive trash pickup on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Please leave your cans at the curb for pickup tomorrow. If you still have trash in your can on Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019, call the Town Hall at 302-378-8082 by 10:00 AM and we can schedule a truck to pick it up that evening.
