Date Posted: Tuesday, January 31st, 2017Craig Tufts’ Educational Scholarship Award Accepting Applications through 3/24 The family of Craig Tufts, Family Summits Inc., and the National Wildlife Federation invite youth to enter the 8th Annual Craig Tufts Educational Essay Scholarship competition. The Craig Tufts Educational Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Craig Tufts, Chief Naturalist of the National Wildlife Federation. This competition is open to any young person between the ages of 8 and 18 to submit an essay (guidelines and requirements). The selected entry will receive a once-in-a-lifetime experience to attend a week-long summer outdoor adventure camp with a parent or guardian at the Granlibakken Resort in Lake Tahoe, California. The Fund provides travel, room and board, and program fees for the award recipient and an accompanying parent or guardian. Entries are due by Friday, March 24. When bad weather is predicted, the Appoquinimink School District tracks national weather reports, confers with neighboring school districts and the Department of Transportation, and put drivers on the road to check the status of bus routes and area neighborhoods. We make a decision as early as possible – typically between 5:30-6:00 am – then begin communicating our status to parents and staff. If a delay or cancellation is needed, families with a student enrolled in the district will get a phone call and email message at the address on file for your family, and notices will be posted on our websites and Facebook.
