NOTICE Declaration of Snow Emergency Due to weather forecast and in accordance with Section 10.08.010 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Townsend, a Declaration of Emergency has been issued in the Town of Townsend as of 8:00 PM, today, Saturday, February 12th, 2022 through Sunday, February 13th, 2022. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 AM, Sunday, February 13th, 2022, through 4 PM, Sunday, February 13th, 2022.  The area is forecasted for light snow accumulations of 1-3 inches.  Residents are also advised of low temperatures from Sunday through Tuesday. Residents with even numbered addresses are directed to remove all motor vehicles that are parked on the side of any road within the corporate limits of Townsend. Parking of all vehicles on the even numbered addresses side of the street is hereby prohibited and will remain prohibited during the continuance of the snow emergency. […]

Snow Emergency Declared at 10 am, on Friday, January 28, 2022 Has Now Been Lifted

The Snow Emergency Declared at 10 am, on Friday, January 28, 2022 has now been lifted.  The Town of Townsend snowplow contractor has successfully completed plowing and salting within the corporate limits of Townsend.  The Level 1 Driving Warning for New Castle County will be lifted as of 6 pm, Saturday, January 29, 2022 and the Level 2 Driving Restriction for Kent and Sussex counties has now been changed to a Level 1 Driving Warning, per the Governor.  Residents should continue to use caution when driving, as dangerously low temperatures tonight can lead to freezing surfaces.  Thank you to all for your cooperation with removing motor vehicles parked on the even numbered addressed side of the roads within the corporate limits of Townsend.  Termination-State-of-Emergency-Severe-Winter-Storm-January-29-2022.pdf (delaware.gov)

Level 1 Driving Warning Issued for New Castle County

A State of Emergency has been issued for Kent and Sussex counties, with a Level 2 Driving Restriction, meaning that no person may operate a motor vehicle on Delaware roadways, except for persons designated as “essential personnel.”  A Level 1 Driving Warning  was made for New Castle County, meaning Delawareans should avoid traveling on roadways, unless there is a significant safety, health, or business reason to do so. Departure of Town Manager Anthony Mangeri

After almost 3 years of service, Town Manager Anthony Mangeri, MPA, CPM, CEM has chosen to move on to a new position and will be leaving the Town of Townsend effective Friday, January 14, 2021. Ms. Antonina Tantillo, MPA, Deputy Town Manager/Town Clerk, will serve as Interim Town Manager. During his tenure with the Town, Mr. Mangeri was instrumental in professionalizing the Town Administration and fostering an environment of transparency and accountability.  He will be missed.
