Yard Waste Collection in the Town of Townsend
Date Posted: Monday, April 19th, 2021The Town Of Townsend is happy to announce that we have added yard waste collection as a new service effective the first week in May. The Town of Townsend has negotiated to offer yard waste every other week. This additional service is provided at no cost to our residents. In order to achieve this GFL, our municipal waste service provider, will be distributing yard waste containers for each resident in Town, beginning this week. Yard waste will be collected from May 1 through December on a bi-weekly basis. Guidance relating to the yard waste collection will be provided shortly.

2021 Town Council Candidate Biography- Joshua Mertz
Date Posted: Wednesday, April 14th, 2021Joshua Mertz was appointed to Council in August of 2020. The term which he was appointed to fill ends in May 2021. Joshua cites a desire to build and foster good community as one of the main reasons he has joined the council. Joshua embraces service to the community as a core value, which he would like to model for his family. Joshua previously served as the Townsend Village 2 Maintenance Corporation’s President from 2018-2019. Joshua works in research and development, where he develops new materials for purifying drinking water. Prior to working in the water industry, Joshua worked in the nuclear waste treatment industry in both Washington (Richland) and Tennessee (Oak Ridge). Joshua grew up in Connecticut and earned a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry from Haverford College and a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Northwestern University. 2021 Town Council Candidate Biography- Scott Lobdell
Date Posted: Wednesday, April 14th, 2021Scott Lobdell was elected to Town Council in April 2019. He is currently the Chair for the Community Relations, Parks and Recreation and Land Use & Development Committees in addition to being the Co-Chair for the Public Works Committee. Scott has lived in Townsend for over 14 years with his wife and three children. Councilman Lobdell has been practicing as a licensed Professional Engineer in Delaware since 2001. This career has involved designing and gaining approvals for thousands of homes and hundreds of thousands square feet of commercial space across the entire state.

Date Posted: Wednesday, April 14th, 2021Eschalla Clarke has been a public servant for over 20 years, the last 15 years was committed to residents of Delaware. Employed by the State of Delaware, she serves as a Senior Administrator overseeing social service programs, and has contributed to the delivery of higher education, healthcare, transportation, and public safety across the state. In this capacity, Eschalla manages boards, committees and workgroups; she currently sits on the Overdose System of Care Rural Subcommittee and chairs the Medication Assisted Treatment Workgroup. As a passionate volunteer, Eschalla works with underserved veterans in Delaware and has dedicated the past five years to helping children in Foster Care have a voice inside courtrooms. Delaware Vaccination Open to 16+
Date Posted: Friday, April 9th, 2021Waitlist open to all Delawareans aged 16 and older; Delawareans 16+ eligible for vaccine at pharmacies, mass vaccination events, and community sites Delawareans who are 16+ may register on the State of Delaware’s COVID-19 vaccination waiting list at vaccinerequest.delaware.gov. Invitations to state vaccination events will be contingent on supply and prioritized based on age and other risk factors, including pre-existing medical conditions. Pharmacies have begun vaccinating Delawareans who are 16+. Medical providers – including primary care doctors, specialty providers, and hospital systems – will continue to vaccinate only Delawareans aged 16-64 with moderate- and high-risk medical conditions and disabilities. Town of Townsend Park Re-Opens as of 4/8/2021
Date Posted: Thursday, April 8th, 2021At the 4/7/2021 Town Council Meeting, Townsend Town Council voted to re-open the playground, Basketball Court, Skatepark and Pavilion in Town Park. The use of all Town Park facilities are at your own risk. The Town does not maintain a cleaning or sanitization schedule and users are encouraged to wipe down surfaces before and after their use. Face Coverings are to be worn in accordance with the Governors’ Emergency Orders. Additionally, social distancing (6 feet between people) should be maintained to the greatest extent practicable at all times, particularly when face coverings cannot be worn.
