2017- 2018 Townsend Delaware College Scholars Awards Program Scholarship Guidelines: * Seeking high school graduates and rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Town of Townsend with a record of leadership and volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities. * Applicant must complete high school, freshman, sophomore, or junior year of college in the spring of 2017 * Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) *Applicants must apply to, be accepted into or attending an accredited 2 year       College or 4-year University by July 1, 2017 * Applicant must be a United States Citizen * Applicant must intend on pursuing a degree * Scholarship funds will be paid in August or September 2017 for the Fall semester directly to the college and not to the student. (March 24, 2017) – Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and Dover International Speedway will continue their support for increasing understanding and acceptance of autism by participating in the global “Light It Up Blue” campaign, organized by Autism Speaks, in April. Two of Delaware’s most famous landmarks, the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza presented by Smithfield, as well as the Dover Downs Hotel, will be illuminated in blue light throughout April, coinciding with Autism Awareness Month. The Monster Monument is 46-feet tall and is the largest fiberglass sports monument in the country. Since its unveiling in 2008, it has become the symbol of Dover International Speedway throughout the motorsports world. The hotel, Delaware’s largest with 500 rooms, has been serving thousands of guests per year since it opened in 2002. Scholarship Opportunity thru NWF

Craig Tufts’ Educational Scholarship Award Accepting Applications through 3/24 The family of Craig Tufts, Family Summits Inc., and the National Wildlife Federation invite youth to enter the 8th Annual Craig Tufts Educational Essay Scholarship competition.  The Craig Tufts Educational Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Craig Tufts, Chief Naturalist of the National Wildlife Federation.  This competition is open to any young person between the ages of 8 and 18 to submit an essay (guidelines and requirements).  The selected entry will receive a once-in-a-lifetime experience to attend a week-long summer outdoor adventure camp with a parent or guardian at the Granlibakken Resort in Lake Tahoe, California. The Fund provides travel, room and board, and program fees for the award recipient and an accompanying parent or guardian.  Entries are due by Friday, March 24.  Please share this opportunity with those in your network who might be interested in applying.
