9/23/17 Road Closures for Parade

ROAD CLOSURES FOR TOWNSEND PARADE –  Main Street and all access roads to Main Street  from the Townsend Fire Station to Edgar Road – and Edgar Road from Caldwell Corner Road up to and including Helen Drive – will be closed on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017 from 10:00 am to approximately 11:00 am in the interest of safety for the Townsend Parade.  Please take these road closures into account if you must leave your residence between the prescribed hours. In addition, it is requested that residents of Brook Ramble Road and Main Street remove their vehicles from the roadway by 8:00 am  if at all possible to provide sufficient space for parade participants.

New Castle County Parks Task Force

The recently formed New Castle County Parks Task Force has begun their work.  One of their primary objectives is to have full community involvement, so the Town will be disseminating any information received from the Task Force to residents so that everyone can actively participate in the determination of what types of services are needed or desired in or near our communities.  A meeting – open to the public –  will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 9:00  in Pavilion No. 3 at the Charles E. Price Memorial Park, 950 Levels Rd, Middletown, DE 19709.  Attached find research completed to date.  Updates will be posted as additional information is received.  Please direct any comments and/or suggestions to Councilwoman Lorraine Gorman at lgorman@townsend.delaware.gov. so they may be forwarded to the Task Force for consideration.  Thank you. Delaware State Police – Operation BACKpack Project

  Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit – 3rd Annual Operation BACKpack Project Presented by Richard Bratz, Direcor of Public information The Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit has established a program to assist elementary school aged children in need with the necessities for school. Troopers are asking for help with any donations to fill each child’s back-pack with school supplies. Troopers assigned to the Statewide Community Outreach Unit have initiated this program and are working with organizations in their communities to collect and donate school supplies for children in need. Donations can be taken to Headquarters in Dover or to any Troop statewide by anyone wishing to help.
