NEWS FROM FEMA: FEMA and Delaware Officials Opening COVID-19 Vaccination Center in Dover

WILMINGTON, Del. – Governor John Carney on Tuesday shared the following news from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Health and Human Services (HHS), Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH), and Dover International  Speedway (DIS) have partnered to open a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site for six days beginning Saturday, February 20, 2021.  FEMA will provide resources and federal staffing support, as well as operational support at this site.   “We’re committed to vaccinating as many Delawareans as possible, as quickly and equitably as possible,” said Delaware Governor John C. 2021 Craig Tufts Education Scholarship

The NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION ( NWF) is accepting applications for the 2021 Craig Tufts Education Scholarship.   The Craig Tufts Educational Scholarship Fund was established in memory of CRAIG TUFTS, Chief Naturalist of the National Wildlife Federation. Each year the fund grants an award to one youth between the ages of 8 and 18 to attend a week-long summer outdoor educational adventure camp at Family Nature Summits.  The fund provides travel, room and board, and program fees for the award winner and an accompanying parent or guardian.  Deadline to apply is March 19, 2021. The 2021 Family Nature Summit will be held July 10-16 at the Silver Bay YMCA conference and family retreat center in the Adirondack State Park on Lake George in New York. Snow Emergency Declared- 4:00 a.m., Sunday 2/7/2021

A moderate to heavy band of snowfall will overspread the area Sunday morning, with snow continuing into Sunday afternoon. Snowfall rates of 2 in/hr will be possible within this band, and isolated snowfall totals in excess of 7 inches will be possible.  The current forecast is for a significant winter storm in the area. To allow for plowing, a snow emergency is being declared as of 4 AM Sunday. Residents are asked to move their vehicles to their driveways or to the odd numbered side of each street, where parking is allowed, before midnight. This will allow for snow plowing to begin Sunday morning.   Snowfall will clear the area from southwest to northeast Sunday afternoon.
