During Hurricane Ivan there were reports of people who refused to evacuate and leave their pets behind. There is no reason to put yourself or your pet in that kind of danger. Here’s a checklist of things to consider to take care of your pet in the event of a hurricane. Preparing Your Pet For A Hurricane If you will evacuate, determine where your pet will stay. If you will be staying with friends or relatives, make sure you may bring your pet. If you will stay in a hotel, confirm in advance that they will allow pets. If you cannot take your pet with you, reserve space at an animal clinic or boarding kennel. Call early, space maybe limited. Delaware State Police – Operation BACKpack Project
Date Posted: Monday, July 10th, 2017Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit – 3rd Annual Operation BACKpack Project Presented by Richard Bratz, Direcor of Public information The Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit has established a program to assist elementary school aged children in need with the necessities for school. Troopers are asking for help with any donations to fill each child’s back-pack with school supplies. Troopers assigned to the Statewide Community Outreach Unit have initiated this program and are working with organizations in their communities to collect and donate school supplies for children in need. Donations can be taken to Headquarters in Dover or to any Troop statewide by anyone wishing to help. Each Troop will have a box in their lobby for supplies to be dropped off for the project.
